I had a perfectly pleasant trip and would return anytime. This hotel was nicely appointed and everything was perfect. - the location was unbeatable, a short walk to the bars and restaurants. - the hotel is conveniently located at the western end of Rua da Santa Maria. - Gaviao Novo is right by the property.

The location was excellent and stunning, relatively close to Municipal Garden of Funchal. Its twin room was new-fashioned with spa bath. The staff were incredibly nice and accommodating and kept the place clean.

The hotel is a little gem in a great location at the heart of Old Town Funchal. Amidst the restaurants and bars, it still manages to be relatively tranquil, with spacious, clean rooms. Our second visit and we will saty again.
The breakfast is just about adequate, no hot food and quantities bit lacking if you are towards the end of breakfast time.

The small hotel is located in an amazing area just off the old town and Funchal's Zona Velha. the staff is exceptionally nice and pretty friendly. the warm and fine breakfasts include fresh rolls, jam, and cheese. the location is absolutely perfect and excellent for visiting Marina do Funchal.

Excellent central and quiet location, huge rooms and bathrooms, use of Internet at any time. A little conservative and possibly dated but all the more charming for that.
There wasn't anything not to like, but the hotel could: update the bathrooms, i.e the shower, provide more international TV and a more varied breakfast.

Very helpful and enthusiastic staff. Unable to fault the location: right on a central street in Old Town but still quiet!. Room and bathroom clean.
Breakfast was average, but there were freshly baked rolls from the bakery downstairs daily. The room smelt slightly musty on arrival- solved by opening window.

Situated in the old part of town a loverly old residence and well located for the restaurants , cable car and shops.
A new bar has opened opposite and kept us awake till 3am. Rooms at the back of the hotel are fine, very quiet, ones at front overlook the bar and sleep is impossible. Moves are being made to get the bar closed would still recommend the hotel BUT only rooms at the back

A nice, small hotel in the old town of Funchal, with very friendly and attentative staff. The Rúa Santa Maria is a pedestrian street with lots of nice restaurants in the evenings, some with Fado music. Plus: air- conditioning in the rooms and a computer for the guests to use;
Minus: not enough drawers or wardrobe for your clothes.

Although unique located in the centre of the Zona Velha very quit. Very spacious room (10), cosy furniture, with nice balcony. Huge bathroom with large jacuzzi. Nice, helpful and very friendly lady of the reception. A bit simple breakfast but daily fresh and tasteful rolls.

the location is perfect, there are many great restaurants opposite, the cable car and bus station is a few minutes walk and the cathedral is about a 10 minute walk. The room was large and light and the bed firm and comfortable. there's also a sunny roof terrace.
The fan in the bathroom stayed on all the time, but shutting the door masked most of the noise. We'd have preferred a double bed rather than the twin beds - however these are both minor problems and we'd happily stay here again.
